Poranguí live in Ashland - Beauty Way Tour: A Music, Dance, and Healing Experience
Presented by: Unity Ecstatic Dance Ashland
❃ Multicultural musician, healer, and educator Poranguí will return to Ashland, Oregon on May 16 at Jackson Wellsprings. He and co-facilitator Ashley Klein will create an intentional container to experience the healing power of music, dance, and authentic expression. Poranguí’s live music set will be complemented by Ashley’s vocal guidance and live visual projections creating an unforgettable journey through the beauty of the earth and the tapestry of life.
The Beauty Way album and tour are inspired by Diné (Navajo) teachings from Poranguí & Ashley’s beloved Southwest. To walk in the Beauty Way is to live in balance and harmony with the unfolding of all life. Walking the Beauty Way together, we weave ourselves more deeply into the fabric of the earth, herself. Porangui’s forthcoming album, Beauty Way, will be released on April 21, 2023.
Poranguí and Ashley will be joined by Murray Kyle, a mystic troubadour hailing from the visionary Byron Bay region of Australia, for an opening set of heart medicine and Earth honoring songs. His contagious soul restoring music will sweep you off your feet, out of your head, and into your heart.
Hózhóogo naasháa doo. May we all walk in beauty.
❃ About Poranguí:
Reared among the three cultures of Brazil, Mexico and the U.S., Poranguí was steeped in various traditional forms of music, healing and ceremony since birth. Drawing from his cross-cultural background and ethnomusicology training at Duke University, Poranguí has over twenty-five years of international work experience as an artist, musician, healer, and educator, utilizing the healing properties of sound and movement to foster our individual and collective well being.
As a live looping artist and one-man orchestra Poranguí weaves ancestral songs and indigenous rhythms from around the globe. Creating his performances from scratch using looping technology, Poranguí’s live grooves range from meditative to dance, moving the body, lifting the spirit, and transcending the divide between performer and audience. His World Soul concerts have taken him around the globe and led him to collaborate with many artists, including a current album series titled Kuya Sessions with Liquid Bloom.
❃ About Ashley Klein:
Ashley Klein (Ed.S) is a dancer, embodiment guide, retreat facilitator, and music business manager based in Sedona, Arizona. She collaborates on and off stage with international touring artist, Poranguí, with the mission of sharing earth-based wisdom through the healing power of music and dance. Her life-long movement practices and training have led her to a current focus on facilitating Dancing Freedom journeys and continuing to study the polyrhythmic dances of the African diaspora. She is on the international Dancing Freedom training team and facilitates at festivals, retreats, and concerts guiding audiences into a deeper connection to the Earth Mother and the elemental wisdom innate within us all. Her spoken-word guidance is featured on the live album, "Poranguí Live - Guided Journey", as well as several remix tracks on "Poranguí - Remixes Vol I & Vol II".
Additionally, Ashley co-creates retreats based in Sedona and around the world, curating containers for individuals to dive deep and feel held safely to become more of their authentic connected selves.

This special homecoming tour (by native Seattle area musician, Maren Metke) is made extra special by the hosting of this Memorial Day event at the Rabbit Box Theater, a venue created and named for an inspired book of Poetry by J. Pintauro (one of Metke's lifetime favorite books)
Honey of the Heart and BrightSide Blue team up for a once-in-a-lifetime tour back to the roots of Maren Metke in Washington, an annual event for this group for years now. The groups’ budding collaboration throughout the pandemic culminated in the release of their “Live From the Center 2021” album with thirteen songs, both originals, and covers, filled with world rhythms and heavenly harmonies. The album also comes with an option to see a full 5-angle video remixed and mastered by Soul Graffiti Productions & Grammy Award-Winner, Oz Fritz. “Live From The Center 2021” is the first recorded collaboration of Honey of the Heart and Brightside Blue as a Super Band. Both groups toured for years as duos, occasionally inviting other instrumentalists to join as guests, but the power that comes through when they all take the stage together is unparalleled. Since launching the combined music group earlier this year, they have been featured at multiple festivals and stages across the West Coast including Relaxpansion Festival 2022 in Ashland, OR, Common Vision May Festival, California Worldfest in Grass Valley, CA, and Port Angeles Concert Series on the Pier in Port Angeles, WA.

Executive Director of the Center for the Arts, Amber Jo Manuel, shares: “This group was a hit at WorldFest. They played multiple stages throughout our four-day festival including a spot on the main stage with some top artists from across the globe. They are always loved by the audience, have an excellent following and bring great vibes.” Tyler Blue, Director of Music for the Crazy Horse Saloon said: “The term 'more than the sum of its parts' was invented for a group like this. It's rare to witness this level of heartfelt, creative intention come to fruition."
The level of enthusiasm from fans at this early stage in the group’s union foretells a spectacular road ahead. While there is no telling exactly how it will unfold, the chances of laughter, tears, singing along, or dancing wildly during a live performance are nearly guaranteed. The group delivers tight folk-soul-roots-world/flamenco sounds, compelling grooves & wailing solo-spiked jams – all offered in a spirit of care, humor, and hopes for a better world.
These 2 groups found harmony in the dissonance of the pandemic: Each week they met safely outdoors to support one another and keep spirits high by learning each other's tunes. Their story of resilience through hard times is a testament to the healing power of music and community. Honey of the Heart and BrightSide Blue were featured on a podcast called “Neurons To Nirvana” where both bands speak candidly about their deep connection as friends and musical allies. Watch & listen here!
You can catch them live June 1st at Jackson WellSprings, Ashland, OR., produced by Lloyd Barde Productions. This special line-up includes Lindsay Bellows on vocals and percussion, Maren Metke on vocals & baritone ukulele, Justin Ancheta on vocals and guitar, and Ananda Vaughan on guitar and vocals. They'll be touring through Oregon and Washington end of May 2023 so be sure you check the schedule and see if they are landing near you!

Yemanjo & Sasha Rose
June 29th . Jackson Wellsprings Casbah Pavillion . 7:30pm
A new prototype is emerging, a "DJ DANCE CONCERT/DEEP DIVE JOURNEY" in a concert setting with ample space to move, dance, celebrate, connect or simply enJOY on any level that may attract you.
Yemanjo is a project of producer, DJ, and singer/multi-instrumentalist Ben Harris. Born & raised in the rich cultural stew of California's Bay Area, Harris has called Lake Atitlan, Guatemala home since 2016. His original music is a polyrhythmic concoction of downtempo/ethnic house beats blended w/traditional instruments & tribal chants from Latin America, Africa & the Middle East - influences drawn from Harris' near-constant world travels.
Yemanjo's all-original set is a singular fusion of hard-hitting electronic beats with organic instrumentation & singing in multiple languages.
Yemanjo is an embodiment of the ancient concept of "music as medicine" and brings an intention of healing and transformation to every production and live set. And a favorite of mine
